The Lookout: Fall Hairstyle Trends

Share
With fall right around the corner (I know it pretty much IS fall, but where I'm from isn't cool enough yet!), we fashionistas have got to get our clothes and makeup on point. But what about hair? If you're trying out new trends with your style, your hair should definitely not be left out of the fun. Consider switching up your 'do with some of these hairs trends for the fall!

PIXIE CUT

It's safe to say that the pixie cut is all the rage right now. Everyone's trying out this look, from Jennifer Lawrence to Emma Watson. Although a lot of girls don't think they can pull off this look, it's totally possible! The trick, according to celebrity hairstylist Sascha Breur (the man who styled Anne Hathaway's hair at the Met), you have to do your research and tailor the cut to fit your face shape perfectly. If you feel comfortable slicking your hair back into a ponytail, you can probably pull it off! If you like having a few wisps of hair around the face, you could still go for it, but you have to be particular about the cut and style so that it fits you perfectly.

ANGLED BOB

An angled bob is a great way to venture into short-hair land without the commitment that a pixie cut requires. It also adds interest to your look; it's not as typical as a regular bob or shoulder length cut. This is a versatile cut, meaning that practically anyone can pull it off. I find that it looks particularly flattering on women with round or oval faces, although the cut should be different for each face shape. Those with rounder faces should opt for a longer cut, while those with longer faces should stick with short lengths.

MERMAID WAVES

The mermaid wave look is great for girls with long locks. It's a fairly easy look to pull off. If you have wavy hair, you're practically already there! Just use a few products to accentuate your waves. When I want to achieve a wavy look, I like to use either a tapered curling wand for a natural effect or use a wide crimper loosely over the hair. It's flattering on everyone!

BALLERINA BUNS

Ballerina buns, another popular trend, are a great go-to if you don't have much time to work on your hair or if you want to look more chic and put-together. The bun is also really versatile; you can rock a messy bun with pieces framing your face, or a slicked-back bun that's perfectly coiffed. However, buns and layered hair can be tricky! If you have lots of layers, I recommend either going for a messy bun look or a low bun at the nape of the neck. It's much easier to tame those layers when you're pulling them down as opposed to pulling them up. If you want to defy gravity, hairspray is your best friend!

BRAIDS

I saw a lot of braids on the runway during various fashion weeks this year, and I love the look! They're great because almost anyone can do them (unless you've decided with the pixie cut!) and they can be done in so many different ways. You can braid around your face for a headband effect, do a side fishtail braid, or just braid your bangs to pull them out of your face. I personally love a messy braid, but you can be as neat with them as you like. Again, girls with lots of layers may struggle with this look if they want it to appear neat. Don't forget a good pomade to tame those pesky baby hairs!

CENTER PARTS

Center parts are super popular right now, but the trouble with this trend is that not everyone can pull it off. If you have a round or square face, this part can work for you to make your face appear longer and your features more defined. If you have a large forehead, you may want to stay away from the center part. Don't be afraid to experiment with your part; switching it up can change your look completely! If you usually do a side part, maybe try a slightly off-center part before going full out. That way, you'll know if it will work for you.
